Jenton Ariana's new collating system features multiple stacking finger modules to drop packs into the stack in a controlled manner. Stepper-driven infeed and outfeed belts control entry and exit of the trays.Jenton added that the colour touchscreen makes the stainless steel machine easy to set up for a large variety of pack sizes, materials and heights up to 150mm high. The packs are fully contained to ensure ‘neat, stable’ stacks. The packs exit the outfeed of the converger and enter a short buffer conveyor where Jenton explained the speed is accurately controlled to ensure correct spacing between packs for stacking and indexing. The packs will then drop into the collating pocket.
The collating conveyor comprises an inclined belt with flights positioned at a distance to suit the maximum pack length. Adjustable side guides ensure the packs enter the stacking area uniformly and can be moved to suit different pack widths. After a stack has been collated, the inclined flighted belt indexes forward to allow the next stack of packs to collate. This sequence continues until the stacks reach the unload section at the end of the conveyor.

Jenton has been appointed as a value-added partner by Signify (formerly Philips Lighting) for its range of UV-C disinfection products. This new partnership will extend the JenAct brand of UV-C products that are now being adopted by many users in the fight against Covid 19.

“This is great synergy”, says Richard Little, managing director of Jenton. We already put Signify Lamps into our own range of equipment and the Signify range of passive upper air disinfection systems will sit alongside our own, established active systems. “Signify also offers a range of UV disinfection cabinets to complement the UV conveyors that we manufacture.”

JenAct UV equipment has seen an increase in demand in the battle against Covid-19 and food companies have a wide range of demands and disinfecting both surfaces in the air.

But, advises the company, it is vital to approach the issue in a scientific way. There is a vast body of evidence the links the dose and irradiance of UV-C to its effects on moulds, bacteria and viruses and JenAct has developed modelling software that allows confident predictions of performance.

Last year, Signify sponsored research carried out at Boston university which confirmed the efficacy of UV-Con SARS-CoV-2 and this data in included in the JenAct models.

“There are many UV-C solutions on the market, explains Little, “but potential users should check that there is empirical evidence that UV-C will do what’s required in each application – either by using validated models or by carrying out direct test, for instance using surrogate bacteria”.

JenAct also supplies UV-C monitoring equipment, BMS connectivity and data management for validation and control.

JENACT UV PROTECTS EMPLOYEES AND ENSURES BUSINESS CONTINUITY WITH NEW GRU-V® JET CEILING MOUNTED UV AIR DISINFECTION SYSTEM

Designed for treating high volumes of air with UV-C light providing a significant dose to kill 99.99% of airborne SARS-CoV-2 in a single pass

Food processing plants and other industrial manufacturing facilities can help protect employees from the on-going threat of Coronavirus and ensure business continuity during the pandemic with JenAct UV’s  exciting new GRU-V® Jet ceiling mounted UV air disinfection unit. The innovative system, which is ideal for cold storage areas and production lines, treats high volumes of air with UV-C light, providing a significant dose to disinfect 99.99% of airborne SARS-CoV-2 in a single pass.

JenAct’s GRU-V Jet UV air disinfection system

JenAct’s GRU-V Jet UV air disinfection systems are designed to be mounted horizontally approximately 500mm from the ceiling where they can disinfect up to 3,500m³ of air per hour. The air is pushed through the GRU-V Jet by a custom made industrial fan whilst four high power UVC lamps are optimally placed to expose all the passing air to maximum UV intensity.

“As HSE and other agencies make clear, fresh air is desirable to minimise aerosol transmission of viruses,” says Dr Jarek Bilek of JenAct. “However, in food factories this is rarely possible so our systems are designed to produce ‘virus fresh’ air in the working environment.”

With the health and safety of workers a priority, JenAct’s GRU-V Jet’s inlet and outlet louvres ensure anyone in the production area is protected from UVC radiation, without the need for additional PPE.

A combination of stainless steel construction and ozone-free shatterproof lamp coating make JenAct’s GRU-V Jet ceiling mounted UV air disinfection system ideal for a wide range of production environments.

The lamps are monitored with a UVC sensor for performance validation and maintenance. Alternatively, lamp replacement is recommended every 14 months when the GRU-V Jet is supplied without sensors

The standalone GRU-V Jet incorporates a fan and control which means it can be installed anywhere with no need for existing HVAC systems.

JenAct’s proprietary UVC modelling software, developed over many years, allows the company to accurately size the GRU-V Jet system for each individual application depending on air flow and duct dimensions, and recommend appropriate positioning.

In addition, the company offers on-site UVC sensor calibration service ensuring minimum system down time for customers, as well as health and safety assessments once the unit is installed.

JenAct is a participating member of the International Ultraviolet Association and holds a number of granted patents in UV generation and application. The company has been based in Whitchurch Hampshire since 1996 and is actively designing, developing and manufacturing solutions for the current Covid-19 situation.

JENTON APPOINTED AS DISTRIBUTOR FOR PRONOVA ‘JOKER®’ BAGGING EQUIPMENT, SUPREME PLASTICS BAGS AND POUCHES

Complete packaging solution specially developed to offer a cost effective alternative to form-fill-seal for food, medical and DIY markets

Jenton International Ltd – part of The Jenton Group  – has been appointed as exclusive distributor in the UK and Eire for the range of bagging machines manufactured by Pronova Packaging Systems in Halstad, Sweden.   In parallel, the company has also been appointed as agent for the range of ‘Joker’ bags and pouches manufactured to run on the Pronova machines by Supreme Plastics in Whitby in Yorkshire.

This complete packaging solution has been developed and marketed over many years to offer an efficient way to ramp up production of Doybags and pouches and provide a cost effective alternative to form-fill-seal for the food, medical and DIY markets.

Jenton Pronova Bag

Pronova is the inventor or the ‘Joker®’ bag packaging concept.  This Joker® design builds on a chain of linked pre-manufactured bags that runs along a pair of opening rails that open up and support the bags for filling. Bags then pass through a unit where they are closed, sealed and separated. A number of patents exist on these systems.

The innovative design of the pouches and the opening rails enable many packs at a time to be perfectly opened at the point of filling. A number of automatic filling systems can be utilised and synchronised with the indexing system of the Pronova machine.  It enables even the most difficult products to be packed into either standard or customised bags.

“We are delighted to be working on this product with Pronova and Supreme Plastics,” says Richard Little, Managing Director of Jenton. “We have supplied equipment to Supreme Plastics to help make these bags for many years and now we can work alongside them to help grow the market.  Pronova machines are the natural step up from the band sealers that we currently offer and so we can now help bag and pouch fillers at all stages of their production growth.”

The Pronova bagging machines are suitable for manual, semi or fully automated packaging applications. The range includes a model for horizontal filling which is ideal for products that need extra careful handling and a stainless steel version for hygienic packing. As well as conventional bags, other options include pouches with resealable zips, stand up pouches and label pouches.

IN-DUCT UV AIR DISINFECTION UNIT HELPS EMPLOYEES TO SAFELY REOCCUPY BUILDINGS POST COVID-19

High performance UV TORPEDO® keeps air conditioning systems 99.99% COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2 free and operational

Following the recommendation to stop recirculating air in buildings, JenAct, part of the Jenton Group of Companies, is advising businesses to install its high performance UV Torpedo® In-Duct Air Disinfection units to keep ducted air conditioning systems 99.99% Covid-19 and SARS-Cov-2 free and operational, making a significant contribution to enabling employees to safely reoccupy premises.  UVC can disinfect viruses in air moving ductwork between areas/rooms.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) recently announced that the indoor airborne spread of coronavirus might be possible and transmission in crowded and poorly ventilated areas “cannot be ruled out”.

However, the REHVA (Federation of European Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Associations) recently called for engineers to stop recirculating air in buildings in areas with a COVID-19 outbreak.

According to a recent issue of CIBSE journal, REHVA’s interim guidance on the operation and use of building services with a coronavirus disease, states that the virus particles in return ducts can re-enter a building if centralised air handling units have recirculation.

The UK’s Health & Safety Executive says the risk of air conditioning spreading coronavirus in the workplace is extremely low “as long as there is an adequate supply of fresh air and
ventilation” but continues: “if you use a centralised ventilation system that removes and circulates air to different rooms, it is recommended that you turn off recirculation and use a fresh air supply”.

Ventilation and air conditioning units are an ideal breeding ground and transmission mechanism for mould, bacteria and viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, which can cause operational issues, potential litigation, spread bacteria and micro-organisms and in severe cases loss of life.

JenAct’s UV Torpedo in-ductdisinfection systems are suitable for installation into HVAC systems and existing ducting, as well as for irradiation and cleaning of chiller coils.

“The recent concerns about recirculating HVAC systems mean that many businesses have their air-con turned off,” explains Dr Jarek Bilek, JenAct’s Technical Director. “However, our UV Torpedo® disinfection units can be retrofitted to many systems to allow them to be turned on again and actually improve air quality by disinfection from viruses of all the air passing through.”

The UV Torpedo in duct disinfection system provides UVC disinfection energy, which destroys microbial, biological and chemical contaminants as they pass through the duct, drastically improving the air quality.

The UV module consists of high output UVC lamps mounted on the custom-designed polished aluminium reflector. The UV Torpedo is mounted parallel to the air stream in order to maximise the contact time of the contaminants with the UVC energy, cleaning the air as it flows past the UVC lamps.

JenAct’s proprietary UVC modelling software, developed over many years, allows UV systems to be accurately sized to do the job in hand depending on air flow and duct dimensions.

JenAct is a participating member of the International Ultraviolet Association and holds a number of granted patents in UV generation and application. The company has been based in Whitchurch Hampshire since 1996 and is actively designing, developing and manufacturing solutions for the current Covid-19 situation.
